The Sunbury & Shepperton Arts Association(SSAA) was formed in 1967 with the aim to enrich and stimulate the cultural life of the local community by organising distinctive, varied and adventurous events in the fields of the performing arts, fine arts, literature and craft. It was instrumental in the formation of the Riverside Arts Centre and it continues this close association with the RAC. All members of RAC are members of the SSAA and it is open for individual membership
The SSAA is run by unpaid volunteers and promotes the knowledge, understanding, and appreciation of the arts in the local area. Among its many activities, the SSAA promotes the annual, usually in July, Sunbury & Shepperton Arts Festival which incorporates a series of events in the performing arts, visual arts, craft, literature, and children’s events. The SSAA also promotes a series of Morning Coffee Concerts in the winter months. In addition the SSAA has promoted music master classes, photographic exhibitions and much more.
