In March 1976 Spelthorne Borough Council agreed to lease the derelict factory at 59 Thames Street to a group of volunteers who aimed to create an Arts Centre. That amazing group of people not only physically built the centre but have then organised it and maintained it ever since. Not surprisingly most of those original enthusiasts are no longer involved, so in 2026 The Riverside Arts Centre Charity will be reaching out to the community for them to get involved in all sorts of ways to ensure that the Arts Centre can continue to serve the area for another 50 years.
